Alternative Medications

Many of the complimentary or alternative products on the market have not been rigorously, scientifically studied to know if they are helpful or harmful to you while you are on chemotherapy. Many also interfere with the benefits of your chemotherapy, making your chemotherapy less likely to treat your cancer successfully. It is very important for you to share with your physician what products you are taking so a decision can be made as to whether you should continue the product while on chemotherapy. This also applies to high dose vitamin use. Refer to www.chemocare.com and www.cancer.gov for more information about alternative product use while on chemotherapy. Other complimentary therapies for cancer such as massage, acupuncture, aromatherapy and other non-ingested therapies may be helpful to you, but please discuss them with your physician as well to make sure they won’t be harmful to you while on chemotherapy.
