A native of Bozeman, Montana, Dr. Dayton graduated from The Colorado College magna cum laude with a degree in Anthropology in 1982 and earned her medical degree with honors from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1985. She was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honor societies. She completed her residency in General Surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in 1992.
From 1992 until 2015 Dr. Dayton practiced General and Breast Surgery as a partner with Oak Street Surgical Associates inSalem, Oregon. In 2015 she joined Hematology Oncology of Salem and continues to accept adult and pediatric patients with a wide variety of benign and malignant surgical conditions, including diseases of the breast; hernias; gallbladder disease; and colon, rectal and anal conditions. She is Board Certified in General Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. She continues to serve as the Chair and Medical Director of the Salem Cancer Institute Breast Committee and is actively involved with local breast cancer advocacy groups.
Dr. Dayton’s husband, Jeffrey Jarvi. PA-C, has worked at Salem Pediatric Clinic since 1995, and their two sons have flown the nest. She has a passion for Oregon’s outdoors as well as international travel and enjoys cycling, running, hiking and skiing. She is a volunteer member of the Board of Directors of Salem Area Trail Alliance (SATA) and can frequently be found on weekends building and maintaining local recreational trails.
